If you spend all day at your computer, you can set reminders to appear on your computer so you don’t miss an important meeting or don’t forget to wish someone a happy birthday. This can be done in several ways.
- With the help of the Calendar. To do this, follow these steps:
- In the tray, click on the date.

- In the calendar that opens, select the desired date, write the name of the event, specify the time at which the reminder should appear.
- Click Save.
A reminder will appear at the specified time in the lower right corner of the screen.
- In the tray, click on the date.
- With the help of an alarm clock. This method is useful for reminders throughout the day.
- Start the alarm through the Start menu or by clicking on the clock in the tray.
- Set the desired time and click the “Save” button.
These are the simplest ways to set up reminders using the built-in Windows tools. There are also many third-party applications with various additional features and beautiful design.
How to create a second desktop
Virtual Desktop is a very handy feature recently introduced to Windows. It allows you to delimit the workspace and work in these separate segments with different applications. For example, create one virtual desk for work programs, and another for personal software, games, movies, books.
There are several ways to create a second desktop. In the simplest case, it is enough to press the task view environment button. 
Next, click the “New Desktop” button.
The second way is even easier. To create a virtual desktop, just type the keyboard shortcut Win+Ctrl+D.
The third method allows you to simultaneously create a second desktop and move the desired program to it. To do this, click the task view environment button, then drag the desired application to the New Desktop window with the mouse.
All created desktops will be visible at the top of the Task View Environment window. Here you can switch between them. You can also move from one table to another using the combination Ctrl + Win + left or right arrow.
After rebooting the computer, the desktops do not disappear anywhere. It will only be necessary to place the programs on them again in the right order.
Desktops can be renamed by opening the Task View environment. To do this, just click on the desktop name and write a new name.
It can be configured so that the application will open on all desktops. For example, a browser. To do this, open the task view environment, right-click on the application and select “Show this window on all desktops” from the context menu. 
If the program works in multi-window mode, like, for example, a browser, then only the window on which this option was set will be displayed on all desktops.
How to edit the hosts file
The hosts file is an important file that is used by browsers before opening a website. In addition, this file can be used to block unwanted sites or specify the path to the site by IP address, if the site data has not yet been entered into the DNS system. Some viruses make changes to the hosts file, so from time to time, if you suspect hacking, it is recommended to check its contents and remove unwanted lines.
You can only edit this file as an Administrator. Note that the file does not have an extension in Explorer.
- Run any editor, such as Notepad, as Administrator.
- On the File tab of Notepad, click Open.
- Change the File Type to All Files.
- Find the hosts file. It is usually located here: Windows ➝ System 32 ➝ drivers ➝ etc.
- Add the necessary entry to the file or remove the ones that are not needed.
- Save changes.
You do not need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
How to block an unwanted site
Blocking unwanted sites can be useful, for example, to prevent a child from visiting any sites – with ready-made homework, games, and so on.
- Open the hosts file as described in the previous section.
- At the end of the file, add the line
127.0.0.1 domain name where:
127.0.0.1 returns the request back to your computer;
domain name is the website address.
For example, the line 127.0.0.1 test.com will prevent the computer from accessing test.com. - Additionally, add a line with the www prefix: 127.0.0.1 www.domain name, for example,127.0.0.1 www.test.com
- Save your changes.
Now it will not be possible to go from this computer to the site you specified in the hosts file.
How to adjust font clarity in Windows 10
Some users like the clearer display of fonts on the computer. This can be configured by going to Options.
- Open Computer Settings in any way, for example, by pressing the buttons Win+I
- Go to the “Personalization” section.
- Open the “Fonts” item.
- In the upper right corner of the page, click “Adjust ClearType Text “.
- Check the “Turn on ClearType” option and click the “Next” button.
- In all the windows that appear, choose clearer text.
- Click “Finish” on the last window.
- Go back to Settings.
- Open the “System” section.
- Go to the “Display” section.
- In the “Scale and layout” block, open the “Advanced scaling settings” item.
- In the window that opens, move the slider to the “On” state.
After all these manipulations, you can close the Options window and see how the fonts have changed.
