Printing PDF documents with Adobe Acrobat Reader is the most common way to print files of this type. In the simplest case, it is sufficient to perform only a few actions.
- Open the document. In the main menu of the program, select “File” and click “Print”.
- In the window that appears, select the printer, scale, sheet orientation, specify the number of pages to print, and other parameters. Click the “Print” button.
Sometimes when printing PDF files there are problems. The reasons can be several, but, first of all, you should pay attention to file protection. Perhaps the document owner protected it from printing and other manipulations with the document. In this case, you will not be able to print the document without knowing the password.
How to print poster on multiple pages
Printing a PDF on several sheets can be useful, for example, if you want to print an A1 drawing, but only a standard A4 paper size printer is available. Or, for example, when you have a map of the region in PDF format and it should be enlarged and printed on A4 sheets, which will then be glued together.
You can split a PDF file into several sheets using the “Poster” button in the print settings.
The figure shows that the document will be divided into 12 parts when printed. If you put the “Cut marks” option, the printed sheets will be marked in the places where they should be glued together.
How to print multiple pages on one page
Printing multiple pages of PDF on a single page can be used to save paper or create pocket versions of PDF documents. In order to do this, you need to open the file in Adobe Acrobat Reader and select “Print” in the “File” menu. In the print settings, click the “Multiple” button. 
As a result of these actions, additional options will appear in the “Print” window, defining the parameters of the pages located on one sheet.
- “Pages per sheet”. This option determines the number of pages that will be placed on one sheet of paper when printing. Their number can be set manually or choose from the offered.
- “Page order”. With this option, you can specify the order in which pages are placed on the sheet. They can be arranged one after the other horizontally or vertically one behind the other. The program allows you to place them in the reverse order. The result of these manipulations can be seen immediately in the preview window on the right side of the print window.
- “Print page border”. When this option is selected, each page on the sheet will be framed.
- “Printing on both sides of paper” defines the parameters for double-sided printing of the document. This option is often used to save paper.
To print the document with the selected settings, click the “Print” button.
How to print booklet in PDF
The latest versions of Adobe Reader have a convenient option to print PDF files as a book. Previously, for this purpose, you had to use special plug-ins or programs. To print a PDF as a book, select the “Print” option and press the “Booklet” button in the print settings window. 
Under the buttons for adjusting the size and processing of the pages, options will appear to set the book’s printing options. 
- “Booklet subset”. This section determines which side of the sheet of paper will be printed. If you have a printer with two-sided printing, just select the option “Both sides”. If the printer only prints on one side of the page, select “Front side only” and print only the front pages. Then you need to turn over the printed pages, put them in the printer, press the “Booklet” button in the print settings and select the “Back side only” option in the “Booklet subset” section.
- “Sheets from” Here, Adobe Reader automatically determines the number of the first and last sheet of the book.
- “Binding”. If the text is read from left to right, the back of the book should be on the left.
How to print the selected part of a PDF page
How to be in this case, if you want to print not the entire PDF sheet, but only a part of it? For example, this may be required when you want to print not the entire drawing, but only a portion of it in an enlarged view. - Open the document.
- Zoom the document so that only a portion of the document that you want to print remains on the screen.
Click the “Print” button and enter the print settings. Select the “More options” section and check the “Current view” option.

PDF printing problems
As practice shows, problems with printing PDF files are not so rare. Often this is due to the printer settings. In other cases, the PDF file can be protected from printing by the author of this document. To verify this, open the file in Adobe Acrobat, go to the “Edit” section, select “Protection” and go to “Security Properties”.
In the window that opens, make sure that the document is printed. 
If a print ban is set, you can not print the document without knowing the password.
Another problem with printing PDF files is that the printed document contains invalid characters. The reason for this is that the program cannot recognize the fonts used in the document, or some elements of the PDF file are corrupted. In order to print such a document, you should send it to print as an image. This is done so.
- Open the document in Adobe Acrobat, click the “Print” button and go to the print settings.
- Click the “Advanced” button.
- In the window that appears, select the option “Print as image” and click “OK”.
- Click the button “Print”.
Sometimes the problem with printing PDF files is solved by saving the file under a different name. It is recommended that you make the file name as simple as possible, without any special characters, spaces, capital letters, etc.
Sometimes it is not possible to print a document because the PDF file is encrypted or because the print file is protected. If you have forgotten the required password for a document, you can remove protection using special PDF password recovery software.
